Creator of the Heavens and all that is
Hear my prayer.
Come to me, whisper softly of your mercy.
You formed me into whom I am,
On whom but you shall I call?
All that I am is yours,
You alone are my Lord.

Loving Father,
Hear my prayer.
Remember me, King of Peace,
Heal me, body and soul,
You alone are all that I need.
Lord of light,
Author of kindness and mercy,
Ignite the flame of your love in my heart
and every sorrow will flee away.

No other compares to you, Lord,
Only you can sustain every need,
Keep us always in your care.
Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Guide the moments of time which make our days.
There is no other help for our souls but Thee.

The House United took a two-month break from taping and airing new programs due to the bout of illness of host Mary May, and husband Rick's mission trip to the Philippines with fellow Lutheran Church of the Master Member, John Krause.  During that time several of the programs and program series from the past year enjoyed a repeat presentation.

The first program airing after the break was Man of Sorrows (#20), a Lenten and Holy Week program, followed by Resurrection Power (#21) with guest Pastor Morris Vaagenes giving an Easter greeting.

You might also appreciate reading the Pastor Morris Vaagenes' brief biography new in Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.  For his full story, including both his life and the development of North Heights Lutheran Church into a mega-church through the power of the Holy Spirit, I invite you to read his excellent book, Church on Fire!, for which all proceeds to go Christian missions in Madagascar.

Airing now is an inspirational program named Take It to the Lord with guest Steve Piepgrass (#22).  Steve shares personal events in his life, and tells about how his faith has carried him through the difficult times--such as the death of his 16-year old son and chronic illness.

Steve also shares two of his own inspirational songs, Take It to the Lord and One Big Family.  These can be seen online through YOUTUBE.

Mary Katherine May, host of The House United, regularly arranges standard hymns and writes original music for use on this show.  The TOP 3 compositions written by Mary Katherine May are as follows.

1. Zacchaeus, the Wee Little Man, or Come and Get It!  You might also enjoy the story Mary wrote that inspired this song, The Government Man: The Story of Zacchaeus, the Wee Little Man.
2. Arise!   An arrangement of God's Son Has Made Me Free (Grieg), Up from the Grave He Arose (Lowry), and Jesus Christ Is Risen Today (Lyra Davidica) for trumpet quartet and organ.
3. O Little Town of Bethlehem, that may be used as a C-instrument or vocal solo.

RICE PUDDING
Cook in double boiler* for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Check water in bottom of double boiler once in awhile and add as necessary:

1 quart whole milk
2/3 cup rice
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup sugar

Beat together lightly:

½ cup cream
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
(After the 2 hour cooking time) stir into simmering mixture.

Cool.
Right before serving:

Beat to soft peaks: whipping cream, vanilla & sugar to taste. Spread thick layer over top of pudding. Decorate with drained and dried maraschino cherries or as desired.

* What is a double boiler? A double boiler is a stove top apparatus used to cook delicate sauces without burning or seizing. It consists of an upper vessel containing the substance to be cooked which is situated above a lower pot of water. When brought to a boil, the steam released in the lower pot provides heat against the bottom of the upper one. The upper vessel must fit over tightly, or else steam may escape and affect the cooking substance.

How can I find the program schedule for Northwest Community Television?

What are the programs about? The programs vary from interviews to documentary-style shows about Christian history and Christian music, current topics, to interviews with everyday people on how they live out their faith, and pastors, and inspirational sharing of Christian music from the past and also local composers.

What is the purpose of the program? Unity of spirit and purpose among brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ is an important and relevant issue today.
  • The fastest growing faith group in the United States of America is not Christian.
  • Honesty, morality, and virtue as part of the human character are in decay as evidenced by the lack of value in human life.
  • There are many non-Christian people who know the Holy Bible better than those who profess to be Christian for the only purpose of attacking Christian belief and believers.

A house divided cannot stand ... it is time for all Christians to unite in the core beliefs of our faith and respect and celebrate our differences. Imagine what God can do through us when we come together in faith!

Jesus said, "A new commandment I give unto you,
that ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that you also love one another." John 13:34 KJV.

About Me

My Photo
Married to my husband, Rick, for 37 years, we have 3 married children and 7 grandchildren. Together we own Quality Music and Books, a Christian book, music and gift store, online and in-store by appointment in Minneapolis, MN. We produce, THE HOUSE UNITED, a cable TV public-access Christian variety show. I serve as chairperson of the adult education committee at Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Center, MN. I enjoy singing, playing the piano and composing, reading and research, quilting and counted cross stitch. Roosters and chickens make me smile.
